Since June 2024, I have worked as a research assistant on several projects in applied economics, collaborating with researchers at the Geneva Graduate Institute, the London Business School, the University of Namur, and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Analyzing the effect of establishing carbon concessions on socioeconomic outcomes in Africa. I build a spatial database by combining multiple sources, convert shapefiles into cell-based rasters, and conduct event study analyses on nighttime lights and political outcomes. The project combines spatial, socioeconomic, and environmental data to study whether carbon concessions improve or worsen local conditions.
Digitized colonial political reports from French West Africa using archival microfilms. Organized the resulting digital files into a structured database for future text analysis. This work involved handling fragile historical sources and developing a consistent filing system to ensure traceability.
Adapted an existing R package to digitize secondary school exam results (EXETAT) from PDFs published by the Congolese Ministry of Education. Developed and optimized matching algorithms in Python to track schools over time based on names and geographic proximity. Produced statistical reports on the constructed database, documenting quality checks and coverage.
Extracted and coded data from extensive historical archives to build a database of colonial concessions in Africa. Identified and structured a new source to enrich the existing database. Created shapefiles with QGIS by georeferencing historical maps and written location descriptions.
Built a database of French parishes from dozens of diocesan websites, each with a different structure. Combined Python (Selenium) for scraping and R for cleaning and harmonization. Also contributed to the design and deployment of an online survey targeting parish-level respondents.
Conducted descriptive statistics and preliminary regressions on gender disparities in academic social media use, using Stata. Explored patterns and data consistency in the early research phase. Performed a literature review on gender gaps in academic visibility.
